On December 11, the methodists of the Center “Nasledie” again visited the Syktyvkar Humanitarian Pedagogical College named after I.A. Kuratov and read two lectures on the topics: “Biography of Pitirim Sorokin: childhood and student years” and “Biography of Pitirim Sorokin: social mobility” for the first-year students.
The students learned that the world famous sociologist Pitirim A. Sorokin was born on the territory of the Komi Region, in Turya. The children listened with interest as in his memories Pitirim Alexandrovich colorfully described the beautiful northern nature and how he spoke with respect and warmth about the Komi Zyrians.
At the second lecture, the first-year students thoroughly got acquainted with the most famous theory of the scientist – the theory of social mobility and social stratification. To consolidate the material studied, the students were offered an interesting practical task with which they successfully coped.
At the end of the lecture, the children learned that they can learn more about the main works of the famous scientist on the website of the Center “Nasledie”.
