From September 17, 2018 to January 15, 2019 the Republican contest of research works was held. It was dedicated to the upcoming 130th anniversary of the birth of P. Sorokin. The organizer of the contest was traditionally the Center “Nasledie” after Pitirim Sorokin. Within the framework of the stated theme: “Komi region in the fate and works of Pitirim Sorokin”, the participants of the contest for several months studied the influence of the small homeland on the life and work of our countryman.
The contest had 16 schoolchildren and students from 13 educational institutions, a total 16 works were provided. Children from all over the republic studied what childhood of P. Sorokin was, what memories he kept about the Komi people, what research he did. The works from the Syktyvkar, Ukhta, Vorkuta, Sosnogorsk, Mikun, Ust-Vymsky and Priluzsky districts were submitted to the contest.
In most of the works, pupils studied the influence of the Komi region on the fate and formation of the character of the young Pitirim Sorokin. They also studied the scientific and ethnographic works of an already matured researcher dedicated to Zyrians.
Many children in their works noted that thanks to the contest, they learned not only about Pitirim Sorokin, but also about their homeland, the Komi region.

II place was taken by Gruzdev Vladislav, Secondary School No.2, Sosnogorsk, 10th grade.
III place was taken by Shvets Alexandra, Secondary School named after Dm. Batiev, Gam, 8th grade.
