On the life and creative work of Pitirim Sorokin for gymnasium students of Syktyvkar

On January 23, the methodists of the Center “Nasledie” visited two educational institutions with lectures on the life and creative work of Pitirim Sorokin: pupils of the 10th grade of the Komi National Gymnasium listened a lecture on the biography of Pitirim Sorokin, and pupils of the 9th grade of Gymnasium named after A.S. Pushkin discussed one of the most famous theories of the scientist – the theory of social mobility.

The students of the Komi National Gymnasium learned where the future scientist was born, what he valued in his fellow countrymen, why he was forced to hide under the pseudonym “Comrade Ivan” and why he was forcibly expelled from the borders of his homeland.

Social mobility – is the famous theory of Pitirim Sorokin, who has studied society throughout his life. The students of the Gymnasium named after A.S. Pushkin understood all the subtleties of this theory, taking an active part in the discussion and asking clarifying questions to the lecturer.
