Lecture about the life and creative work of Pitirim Sorokin in the Center for Continuing Education “Olympus”

On July 15, the methodist of the Center “Nasledie” held a lecture for schoolchildren vacationing at the Center for Continuing Education “Olympus” in Vylgort. The children learned about the childhood and student years of the famous scientist who was born and grew up in the Komi region.

The pupils listened with interest how Pitirim Sorokin recalled the beautiful northern nature with warmth, about Komi-Zyrians who were distinguished by kindness and responsiveness. The children also learned how young P. Sorokin was involved in revolutionary events and why he first met the revolution with enthusiasm, and then criticized it. Together with the lecturer, the schoolchildren found out why Pititirm Sorokin was forced to leave Russia in 1923, and why he could not visit his small homeland.

At the end of the lecture, the children answered questions and thanked the lecturer for an interesting story.
