On August 22, a monument to the world-famous sociologist Pitirim Sorokin was opened. The sculpture was installed near the Syktyvkar State University. The solemn opening of the monument was attended by the son of Pitirim Sorokin, a professor of Harvard and Boston universities, Sergei Sorokin, who came to the Republic of Komi from the USA, as well as the author of the project, sculptor, the chairman of the Union of Russian Artists Andrei Kovalchuk.

On August 21, in the Great Hall of the State Council of the Republic of Komi, the opening of the International scientific conference “Pitirim Sorokin and paradigms of the global development of the XXIth century” (on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of his birth) was held in a solemn atmosphere.

On June 28, in the assembly hall of the educational building №4 of the Syktyvkar State University, during the solemn presentation of diplomas, letters of thanks were given to the most active participants of the meetings of the debating club at the Center “Nasledie” Ovchinnikova Emma and Luzhikova Elizaveta.

Since 2010, the pupils of the creative association “Mercy”, under the guidance of the teacher of the Children's Creativity House, Dina Ivanovna Chuprova, are studying the works written by Pitirim Sorokin during his journey to Udora in 1911.

On June 3, the methodists of the Center “Nasledie” after Pitirim Sorokin held a lecture, dedicated to the childhood of Pitirim Sorokin in the Gymnasium named after Pushkin.

Kanev took part in the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Youth Conference “Russian Politeia in the XXI century: Internal and External Challenges”.

On March 27, 2014 in the Komi republican academy of state service and administration within the framework of III Interregional Youth Scientific Forum “Academic Spring – 2014”, the work of section, dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of P.A. Sorokin, was held.
